Hello, I’m Rachel.

I am a curator, writer, producer and script editor.

After 8+ years working for festivals and cinemas in the UK, I now divide my time between writing, editing, curation, script development and film production.

My work spans different areas but shares a common motivation - a desire to democratise access to culture. I am driven by a love of film, art, music and literature, a passion for exploring cultural histories and a political conviction that art belongs to everyone.

WRITING

As a writer my bylines include The Guardian, Sight & Sound, Elephant Art, Art Monthly, The Observer, BBC Culture, MUBI Notebook, The Quietus, Calvert Journal and Little White Lies. I specialise in writing about film, visual art, archives and cultural history, through the lenses of class, activism, gender and queerness. I also frequently write programme notes for cinemas and festivals.

CURATION

I have worked on the programming and submissions teams for festivals and cinemas including BFI London Film Festival, Tyneside Cinema, Alchemy Film & Arts, Sheffield Doc Fest and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. I regularly chair Q&As, panel discussions and masterclasses.

INVISIBLE WOMEN

As co-founder of feminist film collective Invisible Women, I have delivered programmes, workshops and events for partners including London Short Film Festival, Cinema Rediscovered, the EYE Filmmuseum, Flatpack, BFI Southbank, Glasgow Film Theatre, and Balkan Can Kino.

I read and assess TV and film scripts for funders and production companies including Channel 4, BFI NETWORK, Film London, BAFTA Rocliffe and Short Circuit Scotland. I also work as a script editor on both short films and features, and am actively looking for projects as a co-producer.
